What This Tool Does
This tool tests a ZIP file by actually reading every entry inside it. Each file is decompressed and its data is pulled out, so the tool can report exactly how many entries opened cleanly and which ones, if any, could not be read.
The test goes beyond a structural look at the archive header. It is the closest check to opening the archive completely and using its contents, which is exactly what you want before trusting a ZIP that came from an external source.
What the Report Shows
- How many entries were read successfully.
- How many entries failed to decompress, if any.
- The names of broken entries so you know what to ask for from the sender.
- An overall verdict: healthy, or has N unreadable entries.
Step by Step
- 1
Upload the ZIP file.
- 2
Click Test ZIP.
- 3
Wait for every entry to be read.
- 4
Read the verdict and the list of any broken entries.
Honesty Policy
The test reports measured results. If entries fail, they are named and the verdict is passed as failed. No effort is made to disguise damage, and no fake healthy report is ever produced.
Troubleshooting
- A ZIP that cannot be opened at all is rejected rather than reported as partially healthy.
- Encrypted entries cannot be tested for content without the password.
- Large archives take longer to test because every entry is decompressed.
