What This Tool Does
This tool attempts to recover files from damaged or corrupted ZIP archives. When a ZIP becomes corrupted for example after an interrupted download or an abrupt power failure not every file inside is necessarily lost. Frequently, many entries are still readable.
We inspect your archive, try to read as many entries as possible, and rebuild a brand-new ZIP containing the files we successfully recovered.
An Important Honest Note
No tool can repair every corrupted ZIP. Not all damage is recoverable sometimes the damage is too severe, or it affects information that is essential to reading the archive at all. In those cases we will clearly tell you that recovery was not possible, and we will never generate a fake "repaired" file. If our tool reports a repair, you can trust that a working ZIP was actually produced.
How the Recovery Works
ZIP archives store each file separately, along with a central directory that lists all entries. If the central directory is damaged but the individual file data survives, we can often read the entries directly and rebuild the archive from scratch.
During processing we extract each entry in turn, skip any that are unreadable, and package the recoverable ones into a fresh ZIP. The result is a clean, valid archive containing the files that could be rescued.
Step-by-Step Instructions
- 1
Upload the damaged ZIP file using the Browse Files button.
- 2
Click Analyze ZIP. We inspect the archive and show you a browsable list of its folders and files, marking which entries can be recovered.
- 3
Select the folder or file you want to recover, then click Recover & Download.
- 4
If nothing can be recovered, we will say so honestly no fake output.
Troubleshooting
- If recovery fails, first try re-downloading the original file the damage may be in the transfer itself.
- Password-protected ZIPs cannot be repaired without the correct password.
- Always keep a second copy or backup of important archives when possible.
