What This Tool Does
This tool finds duplicate content inside a ZIP file. Entries are compared by their actual bytes, so files that are stored twice under different names are detected, while same-named files with different content are not lumped together.
It groups duplicate files by content hash and shows where each copy lives in the archive, which makes cleanup straightforward without risking unique files.
What the Report Shows
- Groups of entries with identical content.
- Potential bytes that could be removed if you deleted the duplicates.
- A clear message when no duplicates exist.
Step by Step
- 1
Upload the ZIP.
- 2
Click Find Duplicates.
- 3
Review the duplicate groups in the report.
How Detection Works
Every file entry is decompressed and hashed. Entries sharing the same hash are grouped as duplicate candidates and then confirmed by size. Files below a tiny footprint are ignored to avoid noisy micro-file comparisons.
Troubleshooting
- Encrypted entries cannot be hashed without the password and are skipped.
- Only readable ZIPs are accepted.
- Micro files are ignored to keep the report focused on meaningful duplicates.
