What This Tool Does

This tool runs a safety review across many archive formats. It combines structural checks with a decompression-ratio assessment, so you get path-traversal flags and expansion-risk signals in a single report before you open anything.

The scan reads metadata and entry lists only. It never extracts or executes content, which keeps the review itself safe.

What the Report Shows

  • The detected archive format and entry counts.
  • Path entries that try to escape the extraction folder.
  • Expansion risk based on the declared to stored size ratio.
  • A summarized safety verdict with clear meaning.

Step by Step

  1. 1

    Upload the archive.

  2. 2

    Click Check Safety.

  3. 3

Review the risk flags and verdict.

How the Check Works

The archive is listed with its size totals, then entries are inspected for suspicious paths and the expansion ratio is computed against the platform ceiling. All of it happens from metadata, with nothing decompressed during the scan.

Troubleshooting

  • Unsupported files are rejected with a clear message.
  • Encrypted archives may hide some metadata; remaining signals are still reported.
  • A pass is informative, not a guarantee; treat unknown files with care as usual.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which formats are covered?
ZIP, 7Z, RAR, TAR, GZ, BZ2, XZ, CAB, ISO plus ZIP-based packages such as APK and MSIX.
Is this an antivirus scan?
No, it is a structural and expansion-risk review. Keep dedicated antivirus for content.
Does anything get extracted?
No. Metadata and paths are read without executing content.
What should I do with flags?
Treat flagged path or ratio results with caution and verify the archive with the sender.
Is the scan safe against malicious files?
Yes, by design it inspects metadata only and never decompresses during review.
