What This Tool Does

This tool compresses one or more files into a single ZIP archive. It streams every file into the ZIP on the server, so you get a real compressed package without installing anything on your computer.

For files that compress well, such as text, documents and code, the resulting ZIP is noticeably smaller than the originals. For already-compressed media like JPG and MP4 the savings are small, which is normal.

How It Works

Each uploaded file is compressed with DEFLATE as it is written into the archive. You can choose between fast compression (less CPU, slightly larger output) and maximum compression (slower, smaller output). The finished ZIP is reopened and verified before download.

Step by Step

  1. 1

Drop the files or folder you want to compress.

  2. 2

Pick a name and a compression level.

  3. 3

    Click Compress to ZIP.

  4. 4

    Download your compressed ZIP.

Tips

  • Combine many small files first; compression works better on larger groups.
  • Maximum compression is best for documents, scripts and config files.
  • Use fast compression if you are in a hurry and the files are already small.

Troubleshooting

  • Some media files may not shrink. That is expected, and the archive simply stores them unchanged.
  • If the total upload is too large, split it into a few runs.
  • Folder upload works best in Chrome, Edge and Firefox on desktop.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the output smaller than the originals?
Often yes for text and documents. Already-compressed media may not shrink, and the tool does not pretend otherwise.
Can I compress a folder including subfolders?
Yes, select the folder and the whole tree is compressed with its layout preserved.
What is the difference between the compression levels?
Maximum spends more CPU for a smaller result; fast compresses quicker with a slightly larger result.
Is compression lossless?
Yes. Unzipping the archive returns files that are byte-for-byte identical to the originals.
Where are my files processed?
On this server in a temporary folder that is removed after your download.
